A new area that's a quick walk from the Indigo and Kimpton hotels. Our favorite spot is the Bailey Power Plant, which used to be the RJ Reynolds Tobacco Company’s coal-fire power plant and now houses Incendiary Brewing (Zack's favorite brewery), Cugino Forno (Ali's favorite (not gluten free) pizza), and Black Mountain Chocolate Bar. Krankies Coffee, a great brunch spot, is also in this neighborhood, as well as Fair Witness Fancy Drinks, one of our favorite cocktail spots.
This is one of our favorite areas in downtown Winston, featuring old factory buildings that have been converted into breweries, restaurants, and shops. Our favorite spots in this area include Wise Man Brewing and Earl's Southern Kitchen & Whiskey Bar. We recommend walking here via Trade Street, which has really cool restaurants, shops, and artwork.
A really cute area that is a quick drive from downtown Winston and is home to the Reynolda House Museum of American Art, shops and restaurants, and beautiful gardens and walking trails. We love walking around the trails and gardens with Maisie on weekends. Some of our favorite places in Reynolda Village include Monkees (women's clothing boutique), McCalls (great kids clothes & women's PJs), Village Tavern (best spinach dip), and Dough-Joes (incredible donuts).
Located about 30 minutes north of Winston, this beautiful winery overlooks Pilot Mountain (or Mount Pilot for Andy Griffith fans!). It has a great outdoor space and indoor tasting room, as well as a pretty good restaurant. We recommend getting a reservation if you come here (available on Open Table). Some of our other favorite wineries include Medaloni Cellars (about 15 minutes from downtown Winston) and Hanover Park (about 30 minutes from downtown Winston).
