Spotlight at the Paramount

Oheka Castle
A century ago, financier and philanthropist Otto Hermann Kahn built OHEKA CASTLE in the middle of a 443-acre plot on the highest point on Long Island in Cold Spring Harbor for an estimated cost of $11 million ($158 million in today’s currency). At the time of its construction, the French-style chateau was—and still is today—the second-largest private residence ever built in America. During the Gilded Age of the 1920s, Kahn used the 109,000-square-foot, 127-room estate as a summer home where he hosted lavish parties and regularly entertained royalty, heads of state, and Hollywood stars Today, OHEKA CASTLE is listed on the National Register of Historic Places and is a member of Historic Hotels of America®, the official program of the National Trust for Historic Preservation for recognizing and celebrating the finest historic hotels across America, and Historic Hotels Worldwide®, which is dedicated to promoting heritage and cultural travel to prestigious historic treasures.
Six Harbors Brewery
Six Harbors Brewing Company is a family owned and operated brewery that opened in May 2018. Located on one of Long Island’s prettiest and vibrant coastline towns of Huntington, it’s the town’s first and only micro-brewery. Six Harbor’s industrial-nautical styled tasting room boasts 10+ of their very own craft beers. While there are a couple of favorites that never leave the taps, Six Harbors is best known for their variety of beer styles, making it an easy task for visitors to find more than just one favorite. Enjoy a flight, or a pint at the tasting counter while in clear view of the bright and shiny tanks and the to-go canning process. Vanderbilt Museum
The Suffolk County Vanderbilt Museum — a unique combination of mansion, marine and natural history museum, planetarium and park — is dedicated to the education and enjoyment of the people of Long Island and beyond. This mission shall be achieved through the thoughtful preservation, interpretation and enhancement of the Eagle’s Nest estate as an informal educational facility. Many exhibition and program themes focus upon Long Island’s Gold Coast Era. Programs also concentrate on William K. Vanderbilt II’s desire that his marine, natural history, and ethnographic collections promote appreciation and understanding of the marvelous diversity of life, other cultures, and scientific knowledge. Planetarium programming, more specifically, focuses on scientific knowledge and seeks to capture Mr. Vanderbilt’s sense of adventure and exploration through state-of-the-art entertainment.
