During the spring of 2010, Will and Emily met as college students in Philadelphia during the planning meetings for Habitat for Humanity trip. Emily recalls walking into the room, spotting Will reading a philosophy book, noting his mutton chop sideburns, and thinking, “Hey, that guy’s cute anyway.” During their time in Hazard, Kentucky, she became even more enamored watching him lead the team building houses for the community. Will remembers thinking Emily was cute and quirky from the start, and joining her cooking group so they could get to know each other. They formed a bond of friendship while keeping their smitten status under wraps. A few months later they finally admitted their feelings for one another and became inseparable for the rest of college. Post-college career changes sent them on their separate ways— Will to North Carolina to continue his culinary career and Emily to New York City to launch her marketing career. But they never stopped thinking of each other. Five years later, Emily’s random (or not so random) dream of Will led her to text him out of the blue. Fatefully, Will had a work trip to the city planned a few weeks later. They nervously agreed to meet for dinner and soon realized their spark had never been extinguished. After long-distance dating, career moves, many hikes and road trips, one-bedroom pandemic quarantining, first-time homeownership, and fur baby parenting, they finally get to celebrate their long-lasting love with their dearest family and friends.
