Two nights before Thanksgiving, Erin was out with a few girlfriends and decided to grab a nightcap at a local Charlestown watering hole after dinner. That same night, Mike had been out with a buddy watching a game and, on his way home, decided to stop for a nightcap at HIS local spot. As fate would have it, Erin’s friends asked the handsome guy at the bar sipping a Bud Light if he’d mind sliding over to make room for their friend. A minute later, Erin took the seat beside him. A few beers, two years, and a whole lot of laughs later, Mike asked Erin to marry him.

On a typical Saturday morning in November, Erin and Mike ran their usual weekend errands before heading home to continue binge-watching the latest miniseries in their queue. That evening, they had plans to meet Mike’s parents for dinner in Beacon Hill, since they were already going to be in town for what Erin believed was “an appointment.” Erin thought they were leaving a little early to catch part of the Penn State game at a nearby bar — little did she know Mike had something entirely different in mind. When their Uber dropped them off at the top of Acorn Street — allegedly the most photographed street in America — Erin didn’t think twice about it. Mike suggested they walk down to get a selfie at the bottom since it was such a beautiful fall day. Focused on carefully navigating the leaf-covered cobblestones in heels, Erin still suspected nothing. It wasn’t until they reached the bottom of the street and Mike told her to look up over his shoulder that she realized what was happening. Standing there were both of their families as Mike got down on one knee. The rest of the evening was spent dining, celebrating, and soaking in the joy of the moment together with their families.
