Anthony and Amanda met on the dating app, Bumble, in February 2021. Amanda's opening line of, "Staying dry this rainy Tuesday?" must have really caught Anthony's attention. Anthony and Amanda found many similarities between the two of them and Anthony asked Amanda for tea at a local coffee shop in Greer that Saturday, February 20th. Asking for Amanda to go to tea instead of coffee was his first big "green flag" to Amanda. That chilly February tea date was filled with interesting conversation and enough sparks to keep the two of them interested in wanting to see more of each other. While Anthony thought Amanda was trying to end the date early after about an hour and a half, Amanda just had other plans to meet up with her future bridesmaid, Samantha, at a local farmer's market. Ending the date early worked out well for the both of them since neither Amanda nor Anthony enjoyed long and drawn out first dates. At the end of the date, Anthony and Amanda planned their second date for later that week at a local Spartanburg brewery and then a few days later they met again to make cupcakes and then continued to make more and more plans ever since. They knew early on in their relationship that their connection was something special and that they were each other's "person". Each weekend they still like to start their morning with a conversation over tea.
During the summer of 2022, after being together for a little over a year, Anthony and Amanda traveled to Hilton Head Island to spend some time with Amanda's family at the beach. While Amanda had her suspicions that Anthony may propose this trip, she did not know for sure until they were at lunch that first day. Everyone was standing in line at a Cajun restaurant for lunch and for a split second Amanda thought she saw Anthony's parents walk into the same restaurant they were in and immediately walk out the door. It was so brief, but she thought for sure she had seen them! Amanda ran outside to tell her mom, who was holding their table. "Mom, I think Anthony is proposing! I just saw his parents!" Amanda's mother told her that there was no way his parents were there and not to worry about it. Later that night they all went down to the beach to take some "family photos". Anthony pulled Amanda to the side, got down on one knee, and proposed. It was the easiest (or maybe the hardest because Amanda couldn't speak from shock) "yes" she had ever answered. Anthony's parents surprised them back at the beach house the Poor's were staying at and everyone was able to celebrate Amanda and Anthony's engagement together. It was so special to Amanda and Anthony to have both of their families there with them to celebrate this special moment with them.
