We’re getting married!

Sumit and Pooja met through a mutual friend. Nope that's a lie. We met on Hinge. Pooja sent the first message about live band karaoke and Sumit quickly asked her on a date. Pooja may have cancelled the first time but thank goodness she showed up the second! We met at Street Taco for a drink that turned into dinner and hours of conversation. Who knew a year later we'd be back and getting engaged.

We had always agreed that on our one year anniversary we would return to Street Taco (the location of our very first date!) Even though we were in the middle of the pandemic we stayed true to our word and returned for an outdoor dinner. Sumit kept trying to get Pooja to dress up but in true Pooja fashion she refused to even begin getting ready until 10 minutes before they left for the restaurant - clearly she had no idea what was about to happen. After we finished having tacos, Sumit went inside to use the restroom and "asked the restaurant if we could take a quick picture at the bar since that's where we met." We proceeded to the bar and asked an "employee" if they could take a picture of us. Sumit dropped a bunch of napkins on the floor and an impatient Pooja was perplexed at how long it took him to pick them up only to realize he had already gotten on one knee!! We both blacked out from there and don't remember anything we said but we're pretty sure Pooja said "Shut up - are you lying to me?" Turns out the "employee" was a photographer from his work that Sumit had asked to capture the whole thing. The surprises didn't stop there - as they walked back out of the restaurant (quickly because you know Covid) waiting at the table was Pooja's sister, brother-in-law and best friend/best friend's hubby! The next day we left for a celebratory trip to the Fingerlakes for wine tastings and pool time. The trip was incredible and Sumit broke his wrist - whoops.
