How We Became

We first became friends freshman year of high school since we had three or four classes together. We worked on some projects together and texted a lot. For my birthday in April, he asked me if he could take me out to celebrate and of course I said yes! This was our first date and his mom drove us to Northwoods and we went mini-golfing, got food and Orange Leaf, then went to see Captain America: The Winter Soldier at the theaters. When he (and his mom) dropped me back off at my house, he then asked me to be his girlfriend and needless to say, I said yes.

Our Home Away From Home

As many of you know, we moved away the summer after we graduated high school. It was a big leap to the adult life to move states away from everyone we've ever known but we had each other. We both got full time jobs with him being at Chick-fil-a and me at Panera Bread. We made many friends there in Birmingham until we left and moved down to Auburn in the fall to start college. Ben proposed April 26, 2018 when we went back to visit our family and friends in San Antonio. When we moved to Auburn, it felt more like home with it just being the two of us together and attending school. It felt like we had gone through so much to get here and it was all worth it because it was him and I and we were finally home.

Our COVID Story

'Rona can't stop us!

At the start of the year 2020, we had high hopes for the new year considering we would be getting married! Little did anyone know, it would soon all change. News started breaking out about this virus getting serious, everything started shutting down, and school didn't start up again. I kept prolonging to cancel the wedding in some hope that everything would be fixed in a month but unfortunately, it had come time to do it. We then kept debating whether to have an intimate wedding or wait till 2021 to have our wedding with everyone. Finally the week of it came and Ben's sister Lizzy and her then boyfriend, now fiancé, Austin invited us to Galveston for a few days. The day of our 'supposed to be wedding', we were hanging out at the pool when we decided to just go and do it anyways! Lizzy and Austin started figuring out the plan and the courthouse while Ben and I got ready and figured out what to wear. We ended up rushing and stopping at Target on the way because we wanted something different to wear. We then made it to the courthouse and signed our names on the paper and got our marriage certificate! The four of us went to Rainforest Cafe for dinner to celebrate and the amazing couple spoiled us more with wedding cupcakes! We then had an intimate celebration with family and close friends in San Antonio that weekend!
