Ponce In a lifetime

The story begins with a “Hey” when we met on Coffee Meets Bagel. From chatting here and there to talking almost everyday, we decided to meet up after work for a date. Darren yelped a random boba spot in Rowland for the first date called The Hideout, which Darren still likes to remind Miriam (normally punctual) that she was late to the first date. It was a nice simple date, bought some drinks (Miriam bought her own drink, Darren still brags about setting the bar low, but he did offer to buy), sat outside, and talked the night away till it was time to leave. The night ended with Darren walking Miriam to her car, giving each other an awkward hug bye…till of course Darren makes it more awkward by asking “So, were you nervous? You were fidgeting with the zipper on your jacket the whole time.” And of course we just kept laughing about it to this day. Little did we know just how nervous we both were on that date.

A couple dates in and we ended up at Suzanne park, little did we know it would definitely be a memorable date for us for many reasons. We had dinner/dessert and walked around Suzanne Park until we sat on some bleachers underneath a small tree overlooking the park. We talked for awhile that night and it was the first time we had told each other we liked each other. To keep it simple, we had our first kiss on those bleachers. Right after the kiss Darren says "Oh shoot, I think I accidentally rubbed bird poop on your face when I touched your cheek." We started looking at where his hand was placed on the bleachers and found dried up bird poop. Again, we just laughed so hard at the chance of that happening. Definitely a first kiss to remember.

The proposal story always has to start the night before, at Darren's work holiday party where we had some good food and definitely good drinks. On the way back home Darren was "incepting" the idea of going to Suzanne Park. More like yelling the need of going to the park right that instant. After we got back and knocked out, the next morning Darren was insisting we go check out a coffee/bakery shop we had been wanting to go since it opened. So we got in the car and started driving, we got to a fork in the road where one would lead to the coffee shop (not the way we went) and the other street lead to bird poop park. We started our morning back where it first began (with all of Darren insisting to go to the park the night before), we started walking back to the old bleachers under the tree. "Miriam, I want to redo the wrong I made here the first time (bird poop to the face) and make another memory here..." and that's as much of the speech either one of us can remember.
