In 2017, Miranda traveled to Charlotte, NC to celebrate her 25th Birthday. Unbeknownst to her, Jonathan also traveled to Charlotte, NC to celebrate Dave's birthday. They both found themselves at a silent disco at a rooftop bar in downtown Charlotte. There were 3 DJs on stage, each had a light in front of them (Red, Green, and Blue). Depending on which DJ you were listening to, your headphones would light up the corresponding color. So people would look around to see who was listening to the same song and dance together from across the room. Miranda and Jonathan were both on Red when they made eye contact and started lip syncing the lyrics to each other. Their groups of friends made their way closer to each other, and the best part was, once you took off your headphones, it was silent and you could hold a conversation without yelling over music! They started talking about the birthdays they were there to celebrate, where they lived (Texas vs. DC), work, etc. and quickly learned they were rivals in the sports world (Eagles vs. Redskins) and (Penguins vs. Capitals). Clearly one of them has better taste. The groups then left the silent disco and made their way down the street to Roxbury where they were only playing 90s music and MTV music videos. They had a blast dancing and singing to throwback hits. Jonathan and Miranda exchanged numbers and went their separate ways. Miranda returned to Texas, while driving home from work she got a call from Jonathan, she pulled off the road into a Ross parking lot so they could talk (it was the first time he called after all), they stayed on the phone for 3hrs that night and spoke on the phone every night that followed. The rest is history
They had just landed in Myrtle Beach the night before and some of their closest friends traveled from NC and PA to spend the weekend with them. After dinner, some of their friends left early to "take care of their dogs" and then meet up with them at a tiki bar down the street. Miranda, Jonathan, and Kelsey stayed back to finish their drinks and take Kelsey's suitcases back to the room. After dropping the bags, the 3 of them head out for the bar. When they exit the hotel, Jonathan takes Miranda by the hand and leads her towards the beach, "why are we going this way" she asks. Jonathan says he wants to walk on the beach to the bar, it is only three buildings down from them. "No Jonathan, I don't want to walk on the beach, it's dark and I will ruin my shoes, why can't we walk on the sidewalk instead" Miranda protests (clearly not understanding what he has planned). Keeping his hand on hers Jonathan keeps walking towards the beach. When they descend the stairs onto the sand, there is a beautiful aisle made of flowers, with 3 tiki torches lit at the end, and a speaker with "Got what I got" playing (and their friends hiding in the dunes). Jonathan leads Miranda down the aisle, gets down on one knee, and reads to her his proposal. Crying and shaking Miranda can barely stand while listening to his words, but manages to yell YESS! They both stand and embrace, and their friends run up to them to share in the celebration. They all get to celebrate together for the rest of the weekend on the beach in Myrtle.
