On January 25th, 2012, Poli sat behind a desk, not ready for her first class at UM. As she waited for the professor, a young man walked through the door. Two thoughts crossed her mind: 1. This guy is Venezuelan donde lo pongan... those Abercrombie shorts can't lie. 2. What a beautiful face. And she did not think about him anymore for the rest of the day. Fortu will tell you she did. She insists she didn't. She didn't. Fast-forward a couple of weeks, and Poli was already laughing at Fortu's comments in class, secretly smiling every time professor Civantos said: Any comments? Fortunato, what do you have to say? One morning, when they were both headed to school, they both found out they were neighbors. –I can drive you to school every day if you want –Fortu offered. Hell yeah! Fortu would pick her up every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday at 9:30 AM on his bike (Poli had never felt so cool). After school, they would do their homework together –well, Poli would do Fortu's Literature homework while he made arepas for both of them–. They would walk together around Brickell Key and talk about how Fortu would actually be good at Potions if he had ever gone to Hogwarts (after Poli brought Harry Potter to the conversation, of course). Poli would not have been good at Potions. And then they ignored each other for two years and seven months. #SoSad. We are now on February 5th, 2015... Poli's birthday. At some point after ten in the morning, she got a text from Fortu. He was wishing her a happy birthday and asking if she ever wanted to hang out. Yes. She did want to hang out. So she replied with a quick: "Tomorrow!". The next day, he picked her up at six and they went out to dinner at Wynwood Kitchen & Bar. The waitress had to come to the table three times before they finally ordered. They had not spoken in years. Nobody had time to look at the menu. They did not start dating on that day. But today they celebrate February 6th as their anniversary.
