Things To Do

Jordan Pond

2928 Park Loop Road, Mount Desert, ME 04675

Walk the scenic 3-mile loop around Jordan Pond for peaceful water views and a close-up look at the Bubbles mountains (also a short walk to the Bubbles Trailhead for an easy hike). Or simply drive to this iconic spot and relax. Either way, make time to stop at the Jordan Pond House for lunch or dinner — their famous popovers and tea on the lawn are a tradition you won't want to miss!

Cadillac Mountain

Bar Harbor, ME 04609

Drive to the summit of Cadillac Mountain for breathtaking views. At certain times of year, it's the first place in the U.S. to see the sun rise! Reservations are required, but sunrise tickets are especially limited and go quickly, so plan ahead. Sunset is a beautiful and slightly easier option if you're not an early riser.

Sand Beach

Bar Harbor, ME 04609

Park at Sand Beach, a beautiful stretch of coastline framed by mountains — a great spot for a quick dip or just to take in the view. From there, adventurous guests can hike the Beehive Trail, a short but steep climb with iron rungs and thrilling views of the ocean and surrounding peaks. Not for the faint of heart, but the payoff is unforgettable! An easier option starting at this parking lot is the Oceanview Path a popular 2.2-mile (one-way) trail offers some of the most breathtaking views of Acadia’s iconic rocky coastline and popular attraction, Thunder Hole. The path is relatively easy, with sections of concrete and packed gravel, making it accessible for most hikers. Whether you walk the full route or just a portion, this trail is a great way to soak in the natural beauty of the park.

Explore Downtown & The Shore Path

The Shore Path, Bar Harbor, ME 04609

Don't want to stray too far from downtown? Walk the Shore Path. Acadia isn’t the only place with stunning scenery — downtown Bar Harbor has its own share of coastal beauty. This charming trail begins at the Town Pier near Agamont Park and winds along the edge of Frenchman Bay for about half a mile. It’s a peaceful walk with beautiful views of the harbor, the Porcupine Islands, and the eastern coastline of Mount Desert Island — perfect for a morning coffee walk or a post-dinner stroll with ice cream.
