A true modern romance, Jacob and Alex met on Bumble. They were both busy with work and vacation so they texted and got to know one another for a couple months before finally meeting. They wanted their first date to be in a super cute coffee shop between Dallas where Alex lived and Ennis where Jacob lived, so they chose Waxahachie. Little did they know, a year later they would buy land and a beautiful house 10 miles down the road from their first date. Alex and Jacob enjoy spending time with their animals, exploring together on the weekends, working on their prairie, and having fun laughing at the little things and planning the big things.

Alex and Jacob knew pretty early on they were each other's perfect match. Marriage was a topic of discussion and they both expressed wanting to spend the rest of their lives together. So much so, Alex guessed Jacob's original proposal idea... Now the stakes were high because of Alex's advanced sleuth skills. Jacob was planning a birthday trip for Alex to see the dinosaur tracks at Dinosaur Valley State Park and she was certain this was the new proposal plan, all by Jacob's design... The weekend before was their anniversary on July 7th. To make sure she didn't think the proposal was happening that night, Jacob recommended the worst possible date night location. Due to that suggestion alone, Alex was convinced it wasn't happening that night. She strongly recommended the aforementioned dive bar was not the move for their anniversary, so instead they enjoyed a beautiful dinner at the Cork & Keg in their beloved Downtown Waxahachie. Afterwards, Alex was on the couch cuddling with her puppies (Charles and Ptery were in on the plan). Jacob asked Alex if she wanted to watch the sunset in the prairie they created at their house and see what birds and plants were putting on a show. While on their bench at the back of the property, Jacob confessed his immense love, appreciation, and admiration for Alex and popped the question with the sunset in the backyard. She said YES! Fun Fact: Alex had to consult with her friend Taylor early in Jacob and Alex's relationship because Jacob told Alex she was "as pretty as a prairie sunset" and Alex thought that was a bit too cheesy for her liking. Taylor convinced Alex that if his biggest flaw is that he is a corny cheeseball, just roll with it. Flip a few pages through their story, and Jacob proposed to beautiful Alex during a prairie sunset!
