Hotel
This is where we will be having our wedding ceremony and small celebration afterwards. It is a historic heritage hotel that serves breakfast and has beautiful views of the Fjords over the river. A variety of room types are available, including authentic Norwegian fishermans cabins. It is not fancy, but it is authentic and adorable. Nightly rates range from 1,800 NOK ($169 USD) to 4,200 NOK ($394 USD), breakfast is included in most options. Know that if you do plan on staying at this hotel, transportation from the dinner / after party in Flam back to your hotel is your responsibility, as I cannot pre-book transportation for that late in the day. It is only a <20 minute cab drive, however. This hotel allows cancellations 30 days prior to arrival. However please note that during high/peak season this accommodation does fill up fast and we recommend making a decision to stay here 6+ months prior.
Hotel
This is where we will be having our reception dinner and after party. If you plan on staying here, there will be transportation arranged to drive you to/from the wedding venue. This is a more standard type hotel with all the local flair. Great mountain views and close to transportation, with a Viking restaurant and brewpub on site. Nightly rates range from 3,150 NOK ($296 USD) to 4,100 NOK ($385 USD). Free cancellation up to 60 days. This is a VERY popular hotel, especially in peak season, so it is highly recommended that your travel plans be solidified 10+ months out to ensure you can get a room.
Flight
The wedding venue is approximately 3 hour drive from the Bergen international airport (BGO). Lisa & Mike will be arranging one trip for guests from BGO to Flam on Wednesday, the day before the wedding. It is a minibus with 16 seats, so we are hoping most guests can hop on board. The timing of which will be determined after we have received confirmations on travel plans from all guests, so that we can help as much people out as we can. Alternatively, you may choose to take a more leisurely or scenic route by taking the train, a ferry, or a rental car on your own. Each option should take <4 hours, and the views will be spectacular, as this route takes you right through the beautiful Norwegian Fjords.
Flight
Alternatively, you may choose to fly into the Oslo International Airport. This is roughly a 5 hour drive to the wedding venue. Less transportation options exist from here, so if you choose to arrive in OSL, you will need to rent a car.
Travel Note
We know that there are no direct flights to Bergen, and even those with only 1 layover are hard to come by and can be expensive. Our recommendation if you would like to save some money (and are willing to bite the bullet if your incoming flight is delayed) is to fly into a major European airport nearby with many direct flights to/from your local airport (like London or Munich or Rome) and book a separate ticket from there to get you directly to Bergen. It is much more affordable to travel within Europe once you are there, and most airlines coming into Bergen are not major American airlines which is why there are so flight options when you search through American/Delta/United/etc. Take the time to do your research to find some options that are affordable and more practical for you. Note, however, that you may not be able to book flights until September 2024 at the earliest.
