The love story begins in 2016 where Stephanie and Larry met at Camp at the Lake. This was Stephanie’s second summer working at camp and Larry’s first. From the end of June until the end of August, Larry and Stephanie spent their time at camp smiling when they passed each other by, Stephanie stealing Larry’s hat, and finding every opportunity to be together at the same activity or same team for a special event. Larry's last day of camp, before heading back to college, was Color Wars day. Dressed from head to toe in blue was Larry, and Stephanie, dressed all in red. Color Wars day is a day of competing (with the campers) in friendly competition and participating in spirit offs throughout the day. After camp, Larry and Stephanie made plans to hang out. They went to Smash Burger for dinner and then went bowling at Eagle Rock Lanes. They shared their first kiss that night and on the drive home, Larry asked Stephanie to be his girlfriend. Over the next few years, they had to juggle a long distance relationship with Larry going to school in Connecticut. Once the long distance was over, Covid came around. Throughout it all, Larry and Stephanie managed to make the most out of all of their moments together, whether it be on FaceTime, phone calls and occasional weekends and holiday visits. Stephanie was there for Larry’s college graduation from the University of New Haven while Larry was there for Stephanie when she graduated from Kearny High School and then again from Kean University. They supported one another through their college experiences and then in their respective careers. In November of 2021, Stephanie and Larry moved into their first apartment together in Lodi, NJ. Soon after moving in, they adopted their first dog together, Ducas, in January of 2022. Their time in the apartment was short lived as their 14 lb puppy, unknowingly to them, grew quickly and in April of 2023, they bought their first house together. Their love story began at summer camp and they worked together again for the 2017 and 2018 summer camp season. Stephanie continues to work at camp every summer and although Larry does not, he manages to stay connected by assisting for different events or just coming to visit. On Saturday June 22, 2024, Larry came to camp to help Stephanie bring some things from home and prepare for her 10th summer at Camp at the Lake. While Stephanie was organizing her shed, Larry spoke to the summer camp director to ask for help in his plan to propose. By telling Stephanie that the camp needed pictures of all of the village directors, Stephanie, Larry and Lindsey walked over to the waterfront and onto the dock to take Stephanie’s picture. Larry then asked Lindsey to take a picture of them and then got down on one knee and proposed. It was a memorable moment, filled with love and happiness, at the place that brought the two of them together from the start.
