Transportation to the wedding will not be provided, but a shuttle service will be available to take guests home starting at 9:00 PM. For those attending the after party, a shuttle will transport guests from the reception to the Saloon, with return rides available throughout the night. If you're staying at the Harbor Inn, the St. Michaels Water Taxi is likely the most convenient way to reach the Inn at Perry Cabin for the wedding festivities. You can contact them at 410-819-9606. Ubers are also an option, though wait times may be long.
It’s fall in Maryland—so expect a little bit of everything weather-wise! Days might be warm, but the evenings can get chilly, so plan to layer up. The wedding dress code is cocktail attire, but feel free to keep it casual for the welcome party and farewell brunch! Think of cocktail attire as the stylish sweet spot between “black tie” and “casual Friday.” It’s polished but not stuffy, festive but not over the top. A coat and tie are nice but certainly not necessary! Mainly, we want everyone to bring their dancing shoes and be comfortable enough to party the night away!
While you might be able to catch an Uber or Lyft from the airport to St. Michaels, it can be quite pricey—and finding a ride back to the airport from St. Michaels is unlikely, so we recommend arranging alternative transportation in advance.
We recommend flying into Baltimore (BWI) or Washington Reagan (DCA), as they’re the closest airports. Dulles (IAD) is also an option, though it’s a bit farther. Drive times to St. Michaels (traffic depending) are approximately: – BWI: 1.5 hours – DCA: 2 hours – Dulles: 2.5 hours Keep in mind that traffic can have a big impact, so give yourself plenty of time!
Lights, Camera, Action! – The romantic comedy Wedding Crashers, starring Vince Vaughn and Owen Wilson, was filmed right here at the charming Inn at Perry Cabin. A Storied Landmark – The Inn at Perry Cabin dates back to 1812, when it was built by Samuel Hambleton, a Navy veteran of the War of 1812. He named it in honor of his commanding officer, Oliver Hazard Perry. History on Every Corner – Carpenter Street Saloon, one of the town’s favorite gathering spots, first opened its doors in 1887—not as a bar, but as a pharmacy! Literary Inspiration – Pulitzer Prize–winning author James Michener called St. Michaels home while writing his epic novel Chesapeake. The Town That Fooled the British – During the War of 1812, clever townspeople hung lanterns high in the trees to trick British forces into firing their cannons over the town, sparing their homes. Seafaring Roots – St. Michaels began in the late 1600s as a trading post and shipbuilding center, growing into one of the Chesapeake Bay’s most beloved harbor towns. The Holy Trinity – Around here, “surf and turf” has a local twist: St. Michaels is famous for its “Holy Trinity” of seafood—crabs, rockfish, and oysters.
