Matron of Honor
If you know Yaslyn…like TRULY know Yaslyn, you know that she has the toughest exterior but is a marshmallow inside. She would save the world if she could because her heart is just that big. If she has anything to do with you, whether you’re her mother, father, sibling or friend, you’re going to be taken care of. If I know nothing else, I know that she is going to carry those same ethics into her union. I may be the older sister but there have been so many times when I needed “big sister love” and she was there every time. I’m beyond happy to see her walking into this new chapter, receiving all of the love that she truly deserves. I hope her day is truly the best day ever❣️
Best Man
To Yaslyn and my nephew: I wish your union is strengthened by love, compassion, passion and understanding for each other. Remember that y’all are two beings from different backgrounds who chose to intertwine each others lives under one roof. This is a huge milestone that shouldn’t be taken lightly. I feel honored to be of witness to your love and commitment for each other. My nephew wasn’t in a rush to get here until he found a future spouse that made him rethink everything. Y’all should continue leaning on each other. Have faith on the man from above who graced yall with the ability to see that life is better when you can share it with someone special. To Yaslyn: welcome to the family and I wish you a long and prosperous marriage
Maid of Honor
My sister has always been more than just my sister—she’s my best friend, my safe place, and truly my backbone. We’ve shared laughter, secrets, and moments that only we understand. If you know us, you know we look alike, but what makes our bond so special is how big her heart is not just with me but with everyone! She’s the person I go to for everything, the one who has always lifted me up, guided me, and loved me through every season of life. In so many ways, she helped shape the woman I am today even if she doesn’t know she did. She’s even the reason I became a mother, which is one of the greatest blessings of my life, and I will always be grateful to her for that. Watching her marry the love of her life fills my heart with so much joy. No one deserves a lifetime of love, happiness, and partnership more than she does. It means the world to me to stand beside her on this day, not just as her Maid of Honor, but as the sister who will always love, support, and be proud of her. So p.s Randolph if you mess this up it won’t be her you have to worry about it will be the little sister 😂.

It has been an absolute pleasure witnessing what Randolph and Yazlyn share. Not only is their love and care for one another evident, but what stands out most to me is their commitment to consistently choose each other. Through every challenge and tribulation, I’ve seen them make that choice time and time again. That choice is the true beauty of their relationship and will undoubtedly be the glue that strengthens their marriage as they begin this new chapter together. I’m incredibly happy for them both and confident that they will continue to grow, succeed, and always choose one another.
Bridesmaid
Note to Yaslyn Dear Beautiful Bride-to-Be, First of all, let me just say how incredibly happy I am for you. Watching you find someone who truly loves you, respects you, and makes you glow the way you do now has been one of the greatest joys. After more than 30 years of friendship, countless late-night talks, inside jokes, questionable fashion phases, and surviving Roger Williams PJ’s together, I can confidently say that you deserve every ounce of happiness coming your way. As your bridesmaid, your longtime roommate, and your loyal Leo friend who has been cheering you on since day one, it means the world to stand beside you during this chapter. We have grown in so many ways—through dreams, challenges, laughter, and a few moments where we probably should not have been left unsupervised. Through it all, one thing has never changed: you have always been someone who loves deeply, shows up for the people you care about, and lights up every room you walk into. I also want you to know that no matter where life takes us—new homes, new chapters, new adventures—you will always have me in your corner. Thirty-plus years of friendship means I’ve seen the good, the messy, the hilarious, and the unforgettable moments, and I wouldn’t trade a single one of them. I love you, I’m beyond proud of you, and I cannot wait to celebrate this beautiful new beginning. With love, laughter, and a little Leo sparkle, Your forever ,Sistafriend Tasha

Randolph and I go way back to high school, right after I moved back to the States from living in Haiti. Starting over in a new place wasn’t easy, but having a real one like Randolph around made the transition a lot smoother. From those early days in the hallways to all the years that followed, he’s been nothing but a loyal and dependable friend. The kind of friend who shows up, keeps it real with you, and stands by you no matter what. Randolph has always been someone I could count on. Whether it was laughs, advice, or just being there through life’s ups and downs, he’s been a constant. That kind of loyalty is rare, and it’s something I’ve always respected about him. To Randolph: My brother through friendship. It’s truly an honor to stand beside you as your groomsman on such a special day. Watching your journey and seeing the love you and Yaz share is a beautiful thing. I’m excited for your union with Yaz and everything that lies ahead for the both of you. Thank you for years of real friendship, my brother. I’m proud to be standing with you on this day. 🫱🏾🫲🏿💍

My letter to Yaslyn To my beautiful bride, It’s hard to believe that more than 20 years ago we were just two girls who had no idea how much life we would end up sharing. We grew up side by side, through awkward phases, big dreams, heartbreaks, laughter that made us cry, and moments that shaped the women we are today. Through every chapter, one thing never changed—you were always my person. Thank you for letting me stand beside you today—not just as a bridesmaid, but as someone who has had the privilege of walking through life with you for over two decades. No matter where life takes us, I will always be cheering for you, protecting your heart, and celebrating your happiness. I am so proud of you, and so grateful to call you my best friend. Here’s to the love story that starts today—and the friendship that will last forever. With all my love, Your forever friend Sondra

Watching you grow over the years has always been something I’ve respected, especially seeing the depth of your thinking, the confidence you’ve built in yourself, and the way you’ve become fully immersed in who you are and what you stand for. It’s been inspiring to watch you step further into your vision, and now with your true love in your sight, even more so. Yaz, it’s easy to see how grounding you are for this man. I can see how my brother found someone who truly appreciates how great he is, not only to you, but to his family, his friends, and to the city through his contributions to the arts as a DJ and live sound expert. The same care and touch Randolph puts into a mix, an event, or a collaboration is the same essence he’ll bring into this union with you.

Shurelive, I just want to start by saying how grateful I am that you came into my mom’s life eight years ago. Over time, with patience and love, you didn’t just become part of her life—you became part of mine too. Everyone knows my mom is the most important person in my life. We’ve been through things together that most people don’t know and wouldn’t understand and those experiences only made our bond stronger. For a long time, I saw her hurting and even broken and that was hard for me, But when you came into her life, you loved her in a way that helped her heal. You helped bring back the loving, strong woman God always meant for her to be. Seeing the happiness you bring to her life means more to me than I could ever fully put into words. Thank you for stepping in when I needed a father figure, and for stepping up for the kids and showing them what a real father looks like. One of my favorite things in life is that God created woman from man’s rib—not from his head to rule over him or from his feet to be beneath him, but from his side to stand beside him, close to his heart. And when I look at you and my mom, I truly believe God brought you together to walk side by side like that. So thank you for loving my mom because the peace and happiness I see in her today is something I prayed for, even when I didn’t know if it would ever come.

Shurelive I don’t know what you did to get her to say yes, but you did it. Take care of her don’t hurt her, and if you ever get sick of her I’ll be right here to take her back. Seriously thank you for loving my mom correctly, thank you for being the one to finally give her the flowers she deserves in life. You marry Yaslyn, you marry me too. LOL, I don’t need a ring, a Cuban link will do. Yaslyn.Mom.MOTHER. Before you become MRS. Placide, can I give you flowers for everything Ms.Wray accomplished first? With all odds stacked against you, you made it out that shit and never looked back. No secret, had what we needed but we ain’t have all the extras growing up.You worked & hustled your ass off and now we got all the extras and then some. Everything you got is YOURS, titles and receipts, bought a house & upgrade it as you please,You travel the world, brand new car every year, and on top it all full time job with a successful business, you did that and left no crumbs.Your success inspires me.At 27, I’m still hoping to be just like my mom.Growing up I didn’t always understand you, but as an adult.I’m valedictorian.I can’t remember the last time I said it,I LOVE YOU, we had disagreements, but lord knows I couldn’t make it through life w/o you & 40 facetime calls a day.To say you’re there to pick me up when I fall is an understatement, because I can’t remember the last time you let me hit the ground.I want you to know I take pride in having you as a mother. CONGRATULATIONS.

Words cannot fully express the joy I feel for my brother Randolph. In a world where love often seems elusive, he has discovered a connection that warms my heart. Seeing him find true love fills me with hope and happiness, reminding me that even amidst life's challenges, genuine love still exists and thrives.

To the woman who saved me, guided me, and raised me—my true mother, Thank you for opening your heart and your home to me and my brothers. You didn’t just give us a place to live, you gave us love, safety, and a family. Because of you, I learned what a real, loving household looks like. Your patience, strength, and kindness helped shape me into the woman I am becoming. Even when I make mistakes or struggle, you have always guided me with love and never stopped believing in me. That kind of support means more than words could ever explain. You didn’t have to choose us, but you did—and that choice changed my life. I will always be grateful for the love you gave so freely and the lessons you taught me about what it means to care for others and build a home full of love. Standing beside you as your bridesmaid is more than just an honor. It’s a reminder of how lucky I am to call you my mother, the woman who saved me, guided me, and raised me. I love you always.

To my beautiful Mom and the incredible man who stepped up to be my Dad, This is more than just a wedding day. It’s a moment that represents love, healing, growth, and the beautiful way life sometimes brings people exactly what they deserve even if it takes time to find it. Mom, watching you find someone who truly loves you, honors you, and stands beside you with his whole heart fills me with so much happiness that it’s hard to put into words. As your child, all I have ever wanted is to see you safe, loved, and appreciated the way you deserve. Seeing you walk into this new chapter with someone who cherishes you so deeply means everything to me. And to the man who chose to step into the role of Dad thank you. Family isn’t always about the way it begins, it’s about the people who choose to stay, who choose to show up, and who choose to love wholeheartedly. Being adopted has taught me that family is something built with love, commitment, and intention. You didn’t have to step in, but you did. You chose us. You chose to love my mom, and you chose to embrace our family, and that means more than you may ever realize. Seeing you both together gives me hope and reminds me that real love is patient, resilient, and worth waiting for. It reminds me that happiness can come at the most beautiful time in life, and when it does, it should be celebrated with everything we have.
