Both of us went to a mutual friends Halloween party, neither of us giving any thought to where we may end up because of choosing to go. At the end of that wild night of Halloween fun, Pixie mentioned that she wanted to go camping & get unplugged the following weekend, Halloween weekend proper. While exchanging numbers Van casually mentioned that he had already planned to go backpacking in the Sierras. A few days later, a text to confirm, and we were driving an awkward 5 hour drive to the trailhead near Saddlebag Lake, with our backpacking gear in tow. By the time we walked off trail, we knew we had sparked something unique for us. Van took Pixie to Double Eagle Restaurant for a post backpacking trip meal & drink.
