How We Met Part 1

11.15.2019

It was opening night of Catholic Young Adults: The Musical. Sara was stage managing for the very first time for a live audience. The pressure was on for sure, not only for the show, but tonight was the night she would see Zach for the first time. Somehow, her roommate convinced her to invite the man she had been talking to online for the past week to the opening night of the show. Pushing herself outside of her comfort zone, she invited him. Then, by some miracle, Zach replied, "I'd love to come!" Minutes before the show started, Sara was chatting with a friend behind Will Call. Out of the corner of her eye, she saw someone handsome walk up to receive his tickets. Sara thought to herself, before looking, "Whoever that is, he's really cute." She then looked up and to her surprise, it was Zach. He actually showed up. "Oh, Shi--" were the first words that popped into her head next. Then, overwhelmed by everything, she ran away to the production booth. She told herself it was because she needed to get backstage for the show but in all reality, it was because she didn't actually expect to see him that night. "I'd love to come!" That is what Zach said, but a musical about Catholic Young Adults? Zach had no idea what he had gotten himself into. But what harm could come of going to see a theatrical event? He wasn't Abraham Lincoln and he was, after all, himself a Catholic Young Adult. He probably wouldn't even get to meet her that night because she'd be busy with the Musical. Worst case scenario, the play stinks, he doesn't even see her, and he's out ten bucks. Zach purchased one ticket for the show. He still had a couple of minutes before the show would start and found a water fountain to get a drink from. Next to the fountains was a set of doors that lead into a gym, he tried for the doors, thinking to himself maybe he could get a couple of shots in. They were locked, forcing Zach to spin around and see the most beautiful girl in the room disappear.

How We Met Part 2

Cut to ten months later, Sara is reading the "How We Met" section of her and Zach's engagement page. "Who was the girl," she asks Zach. "It was you!" Zach replies, visibly flustered as he tries to write the "part 2" of "How We Met". "Sorry, Mr. Grumpy Grump," says Sara. "No worries," says Zach. "I love you." Cut back to ten months ago. The boy was Zach, the girl was Sara. The play did not stink. Although they still hadn't officially met in person, they both decided that it was now time for a proper date. Sara showed up dressed for a date, Zach showed up dressed for comic-con in a T-shirt with a stormtrooper in a Santa hat. They ate pizza and talked about movies and life and being thirty and Zachs T-shirt. They enjoyed each other's company and went on another date and then another date, and slowly fell for each other. They now argue about silly things and play endless games of Yahtzee. I think its safe to say that this will be an everlasting love.
