*Subject to Change in the Coming Months* Disney has provided us with a set of guidelines that all guests must abide by while we are on Disney property. During our wedding, guests will be required to wear mask at all times with the exception of eat and drinking. Disney is very strict about their mask rules, and we ask that you abide by them. There will be assigned seating for our ceremony and our reception. Disney is requiring us to inform them of family groups/traveling groups. These groups will be allowed to sit together and will not be required to socially distance. If you have a certain traveling group you'd like to be a part of, please let us know. Group sizes are limited to 10 per group.
No, you do not. Even though our wedding will be at Disney World at no point do you have to purchase a Disney ticket. We are inviting everyone to join us for a day at the Magic Kingdom, but this activity is optional. If you and your family are interested in purchasing Disney World tickets, we encourage you to read about how to do this in one of our other FAQ.
No, you don’t have to book a Disney hotel or stay on Disney property. Disney does offer non Disney hotels on their property (Hilton, Marriott, etc.) that are more cost effective if you would like to stay close to the wedding site.
The reception is also on Disney property. Disney is requiring us to be shuttled to the reception, and transportation will be provided.
Formal! Dresses and dress shirts/pants are perfectly acceptable. Since we will be in Florida feel free to plan for humid/wet weather. All of our wedding events will be indoors so you'll just have to worry about being outside while moving from place to place.
If you would like to purchase a Disney ticket, please visit https://disneyworld.disney.go.com. Please note, if you are interested in going to Disney, you must buy your ticket and then reserve the park you'd like to visit. For example, we are inviting everyone to join us at the Magic Kingdom the day before our wedding (optional). You will have to buy your ticket first online, then on a separate web page it will ask you to reserve the day you'd like to go and then pick which park you'd like to go. Note: they have a calendar that will show you which parks are available and which parks are sold out. If you are planning on visiting Disney at any point, I would suggest to book your tickets as soon as possible. You will not be able to purchase tickets in person due to COVID.
Expect rain and humidity! We would recommend purchasing a plastic pancho, or bring an umbrella. Panchos are nice because they cover your whole body. If you wish to purchase a pancho do not buy one on Disney property, they are overly priced. You can buy one at a Target or Walmart while in Florida, or buy some in bulk on Amazon. I would suggest bringing a plastic bag to put your wet pancho in once you're inside. Also bring shoes you don't mind getting wet!
Get the My Disney Experience App! It had everything you need: buying park tickets, maps, wait times, dining reservations, park hours, and interactive games you can play while you're in the park. It can also be used as your park ticket if you link it. Also on YouTube there are several Disney vloggers/travel channels that will help give you tips. My favorites are DFB Guide or AllEars.net
Here are some of our tips: 1. Get your tickets EARLY. Since Disney has a reservation system, the parks fill up early and you might not get into the parks you want. 2. Wear comfortable walking shoes. In a perfect world, wear tennis shoes. Beware because they will likely get wet from the rain, so I would suggest wearing shoes you don't mind getting wet. 3. Make a dining reservation. If you're visiting a park for the day, get a dining reservation at that park. You can on their website or their app. 4. Bring an extra mask! You never know if they’ll get wet from a water ride or rain. Disney sells masks if you forget to bring them. 5. Get to the parks before the official park opening. Even getting there half an hour early can help you ride the most popular rides. 6. Embrace the fun! Buy those Mickey ears! Eat that Dole whip! Ride every ride you can! See the characters! Don't be afraid to be a kid again.
