One nice spring day in 2021, John and Lauren met on a grassy park field in New Haven, Connecticut while playing a pick-up game of ultimate frisbee. At the time, masks were still worn outside and they only saw each others eyes for about a month. Fortunately, Lauren (one of 3 women who came to pick-up) was very good at frisbee and even tried to run John over on the field - this was unintentional, however, she did find out he had nice arms. Once the world began to open again for the summer, John asked Lauren out for drinks and she wisely agreed. Over the next several months, they fell in love over dinner, drive-in movies, hikes, and more frisbee. They quickly knew they had found their person. In 2022, Lauren got into medical school at Creighton in Arizona and asked John to move across the country with her. He wisely agreed. John and Lauren have found a great community in Phoenix, and John has even acclimated to the heat (kind of). School has kept Lauren very busy, but both still enjoy hiking, playing ultimate frisbee competitively, eating Cornish Pasty, and spending time outside when the weather is nice (aka January). Over the last year, John has exploded on the Phoenix music scene and is the lead guitarist in his band Corner Lot. On another nice spring day in 2025, John and Lauren took a trip up to Sedona, one of their favorite places to visit in Arizona. After an early afternoon hike/climb at Bell Rock, they braved the rain to visit the vortex near Cathedral Rock for couples pictures where John proposed! Lauren wisely said yes. They cannot wait to celebrate with everyone in May! Our next adventure: Lauren and John will be moving to Kanas City in mid-June for the start of Lauren's orthopedic surgery residency and the University of Missouri Kansas City!
