Question

Is Cartagena safe?

Answer

Yes!!! The seaside city of Cartagena is one of the safest places in the entire country, as well as one of the most popular tourist destinations in Colombia. Crime against tourists is practically unheard of in Cartagena, and you can stay safe in the city as long as you use common sense and exercise normal precautions!

Question

How will transportation work for the events?

Answer

All of our events (besides the beach day excursion), will take place within the "Walled City" of Cartagena. This part of the city is easily walkable, and our events will only be a short walking distance from the recommended hotels and stays! If you don't feel up for walking it's also very easy to catch a cab. Uber is also available! You can easily call an Uber from the airport. Taxis from the airport to the "Walled City" cost about $15,000 COP (~$3 USD).

Question

What should you pack?

Answer

The climate in December in Cartagena is sunny and hot with high temperatures in the 80s! Our recommended attire for our wedding reception is Formal. Don't forget to pack your bathing suit as the hotels all have gorgeous pools and the beaches here are amazing!

Question

What is the language and currency of Colombia?

Answer

Spanish is the official language of the country. However, given that Cartagena is a tourist city, you will find lots of Colombians do speak English as well. The Colombian Peso is the official currency. Credit Cards are widely accepted and used in the city. If you do prefer to take out cash (taxis, tipping, etc) there are several ATMs in the city, and most hotels can also provide currency exchanges.
