We had planned a little trip out to Delamere Forest for a picnic, I was trying to be as subtle as possible about having the ring with me and my intentions for the day but I'm pretty sure from the get go Chels could sense something was up. We walked around for hours, sat down had some food and then proceeded to walk around for hours as I was looking for the perfect spot to propose. By this point we walked through most of Delamere and were heading back to the car when I spotted a path that was shaded by trees and looked quite so we decided to have a wonder. This was the perfect spot, I asked Chels to walk ahead so “I can take a picture of her in the forest” as she set off, I clumsily fumbled around in my bag searching for the ring while trying to not give anything away. I eventually managed to find the ring but forgot how much of a fast walker Chels is so by the time I'd got the ring out and got down on one knee she was almost at the other end of the path. I had to shout so she could hear me and because she was that far away, she must have thought I'd tripped at first. As she walked back over, I ran through the speech I had planned in my head about how I was going to ask her to marry me, but immediately forgot everything I was going to say when she stood there in front of me. So instead I asked her “if she’d make me the happiest man alive by marrying me”, she said yes, we cried, and stood there in the middle of the forest happily engaged wondering... how to get back to the car.
