As you all know, this was not the original plan, and to be totally transparent, it was still not the plan even weeks before it happened. Here is the story of our surprise backyard wedding: Anna had always planned to have her bachelorette trip at a cabin in the woods in Sparta, TN over Labor Day weekend. Naturally, when Jerome found out his bachelor trip was cancelled in July, he decided to also do a [separate] cabin in the woods, as it’s the most pandemic friendly trip these day. We decided it would be best to have everyone attending get a Covid-19 test (with a negative result, of course) before coming. Because of this, and since it was a long weekend, we decided to throw a little wedding party shower at our house on Sunday evening since it was unknown when the next time we could all be together. Because everyone was tested, we felt comfortable also inviting our parents. As the weeks approached, and as we tried to wrap our heads around re-planning our postponed Mexico wedding, we started to dabble with the idea of a surprise backyard wedding during our shower, and as time went on, this idea started to become more obvious. Our families would be there, our wedding party would be there, and ultimately, we didn’t know if or when we would be able to plan our Mexico wedding again. With all of the weirdness and uncertainty in the world, this surprise backyard wedding felt very much in our control. After all, our backyard had already seen an engagement, a tornado, a global pandemic, so why not a wedding too? We can both whole-heartedly say that even though this was not the original Mexico wedding we'd planned, we have no doubt that we were just as (if not more) happy with our tiny surprise backyard wedding. We have included some photos and anyone who would like a copy of the wedding transcript, please don't hesitate to ask, and we'd be happy to send it over to you! Thank you all for your support and understanding, and we love you all. - Anna & Jerome
