FAQs!
Question

When should I RSVP by?

Answer

Please RSVP to the wedding by 5/1/25 on this site, so we can get an accurate headcount for the venue folks. However, see the next question about the venue itself!

Question

Can I bring a date?

Answer

Unless one of us has specifically asked you to bring one (i.e. named on the invitation or close friends/family), unfortunately, no, because we all know weddings are expensive, and the venue has number caps. Talk to one of us if you need clarification. However, we strongly encourage you to bring a guest to stay if it makes you more comfortable during the weekend! We will have lots of fun plans, including a "night out" after the wedding, so we can accommodate the guests around the ceremony. There are plenty of things they could do in town or at the venue itself while the ceremony goes on.

Question

Are kids welcome?

Answer

Only specific children who are given roles from our immediate family are being allowed. Otherwise, this is a 18+ affair.

Question

What time should I arrive at the ceremony?

Answer

2:30pm is when the venue will open the outdoor seating area.

Question

Do you have any hotel recommendations?

Answer

Re: Golden Arrow We strongly encourage you to take advantage of the fact that our Venue is itself a Resort and Hotel. Should you wish to stay at Golden Arrow, there is a discounted Wedding Block Rate under the name "Pilat & Baxter Wedding," and it will help us "meet our minimums" the more people who can reserve. If you want something extra special, talk to Jon (315-237-3056) about the wedding block options, or research the website (https://www.golden-arrow.com/) for a few of their "suite" or "specialty room" options. You must place a reservation (unpaid) by 4/19/25 with Golden Arrow to get the wedding block rate! Re: Other Options We recommend Placid Bay Hotel for affordability, or Crowne Plaza for last minute "bougie" reservations. Crowne Plaza is directly across from the Golden Arrow which is down the hill on Main Street. There are otherwise plenty other options in town, or Saranac Lake is not terribly far a drive either.

Question

Is there a dress code?

Answer

Business Casual - our party will be dressed black/ rainbow oriented - FYI. Just leave red to the grooms and moms!

Question

Is there parking for the ceremony or reception?

Answer

If you are staying at Golden Arrow, you are set with the parking garage. Otherwise, you must park in one of the public town lots or streetside parking. There is a relatively big surface lot directly across from Golden Arrow and a few that are a few blocks from the venue. Crown Plaza and the Grand are the other hotels within reasonable walking distance.

Question

I have a food allergy, can I make a special request?

Answer

Let us know and we will work with the venue to accomodate!

Question

What about food & drink?

Answer

There will be a post wedding cocktail hour, reception buffet (main entrees of London Broil and Bacon Mac & Cheese), and open bar for the first 3 hours of the reception, after which it will be a cash bar.

Question

Why a second wedding?

Answer

We were always planning to get married in Placid in 2025, but duty called and getting married before then (12/31/23) was certainly convenient and ended up being the best move monetarily and benefits wise!! You will see we have saved some very important formalities for the "big wedding".

Question

Why Lake Placid?

Answer

Jon - I have always loved the ADKs, and Placid is a great fit location wise. Small town with big appeal. Resorts, Olympic venues, Shopping, Outdoors activities, you name it. We will be coming here for years to come. I dragged Nick here early in '23 and we both knew immediately this was the place, and we've been back several times since!

Question

Are there any other events that I should know about around the wedding?

Answer

Rehearsal Dinner info will be put out to close family and friends, which we anticipate will take place the night before (Friday the 20th). Also, we anticipate getting any interested friends and family out the night of the wedding post-reception! More to follow!
