How We Met

It all started with a birthday drink...

In late April 2022, we briefly crossed paths at Drake's Restaurant in San Carlos. Jacqueline was out with a coworker celebrating her upcoming 30th birthday and Daniel took his sister, Jamie, to dinner. Daniel and Jamie took the two open seats next to Jacqueline and her friend. Because it was Jacqueline's birthday weekend, the bartender passed out a round of free drinks to the four of us. We briefly cheersed and said our pleasantries. After Daniel and Jamie finished dinner, they left the restaurant and went elsewhere. Hours later in the evening, Daniel and Jacqueline crossed paths again and sat together at Faith and Spirits piano bar (Jacqueline loves piano bars). After the piano bar was set to close for the evening, the night continued across the street at the Orchid Room (a very divey bar). It was at the Orchid Room where Jacqueline’s friend asked Daniel if he was single, to which he replied yes, and she followed by introducing him to Jacqueline. Her friend asked if Daniel found Jacqueline attractive. If Jacqueline hadn't had a few birthday drinks, her cheeks would have flushed from the question. Luckily, Daniel said yes, which her friend exclaimed was great because Jacqueline found him attractive too. She then ordered us to sit down and get to know each other, and she'd be back to check on us. Twenty minutes or so into chatting, Jacqueline’s friend came over to check-in. Jacqueline told her everything was going well, and playfully told her she’d invite her to the wedding. Twenty minutes turned into two hours, and our conversation continued until the bar closed for the evening. We exchanged phone numbers, Daniel planted a kiss on Jacqueline’s cheek and put her into an Uber. The rest is history!

A little bit about us

For the friends and family we haven't had the pleasure of spending time with yet...

Daniel grew up in Belmont, California with his sister, Jamie, and brother, Matthew. Daniel's true loves growing up were baseball and Batman. Daniel spent countless hours throwing a baseball around with his dad and traveling all over California to play. After high school, Daniel played baseball at College of San Mateo and Skyline College. He's thankful for his time spent at local institutions as it allowed him to spend as much time with his father as possible before he passed. In addition to baseball, Daniel has a love of fast cars and motorcycles, and physical fitness. He loves spending time with Lucy, his adorable chocolate lab who now would rather cuddle with Jacqueline. Daniel is incredibly family oriented, and we can't wait to start a family of our own. Jacqueline grew up in San Ramon, California. Jacqueline grew up with her brother, Robert, whom she is incredibly close with. Robert has autism and she is his biggest advocate. Daniel and Jacqueline both uniquely understand what it feels like to lose a parent, with Jacqueline having lost her mother to cancer when she was eleven. Jacqueline attended Saint Mary's College for her undergraduate degree and Long Beach State to pursue her masters. After working at Long Beach State for a few years, a job opportunity at College of San Mateo brought her back to the Bay Area. Unknowingly at the time, she completed Daniel's sister Jamie's athletic paperwork. Jacqueline loves fitness and nutrition, and she and Daniel both share a love of taking Lucy out for whipped cream treats and hikes. Our relationship is based on strong communication, morals and values, and lighthearted playfulness. We love rocking out to ACDC and Metallica in the car, a well crafted espresso martini, and Sunday mornings walking down Laurel Street to grab coffee and a bagel with Lucy. We are often in amazement that life did not have us cross paths before 2022, as we lived down the street from each other and were both in attendance of College of San Mateo softball games for two years. Once life brought us together, we were inseparable and family members referred to us getting married as a foregone conclusion. We can't wait to celebrate our love with everyone that has made our life so fulfilling and joyful. Cheers!
