Catedral Metropolitana Nossa Senhora Aparecida
The Cathedral of Brasília is one of the city’s most iconic landmarks and a must-see. Designed by Oscar Niemeyer, it’s unlike any traditional church you’ve seen. From the outside, it looks like a crown or a bunch of hands reaching up to the sky, made of 16 massive white concrete columns. The architecture is super modern and really stands out in the city. Once you step inside, the vibe is completely different. The walls are made of stained glass in shades of blue, green, and white, letting in a beautiful, colorful light that fills the whole space. It’s a peaceful and almost futuristic place to visit, whether you’re into architecture, history, or just want to experience something unique.
Paranoá Lake
If you’re into water activities, you can rent paddleboards, kayaks, or even take a boat tour. It’s also a perfect place for a nice walk or just chilling by the water.
Alvorada Palace
Alvorada Palace is the official residence of the president of Brazil, located right by Lake Paranoá in Brasília. It’s a sleek, modernist building designed by the famous architect Oscar Niemeyer, known for his futuristic style. Although you can’t go inside, you can admire it from the outside and take in its unique architecture. It’s surrounded by beautiful gardens and has a peaceful vibe with the lake right next to it.
Pontão do Lago Sul
Pontão is a prime spot for locals and tourists alike to relax, dine, and enjoy outdoor activities. The area features a variety of high-end restaurants, bars, and cafes, many with outdoor seating that allows guests to take in the lakefront atmosphere.
Parque da Cidade Sarah Kubitschek
This huge urban park is perfect for walking, jogging, biking, or just relaxing. It’s bigger than Central Park in NYC! There are also food stands, playgrounds, and picnic areas, making it a great spot to enjoy nature and people-watch.
Palácio Itamaraty
Another architectural gem designed by Niemeyer, this palace has a beautiful reflecting pool and gardens. Inside, it’s filled with modern art and sculptures, and they offer guided tours that show off the incredible design.
