Ashley and Matt's story began with our mutual friend James! Thanks James! He began the matchmaking process with "I have a friend I want you to meet" and showed our best photos to each other. Ashley's initial reaction to the photo of Matt was "he's cute...in a nerdy way" and Matt's initial reaction to the photo of Ashley was "she's really good looking - never really went for blondes though." After many attempts of James inviting both of them to his party's so they could meet, 6 months later and they still didn't cross paths. Thanks to Tinder (can you believe that?) they finally had the chance to talk. They both swiped right, Ashley screenshot the match and texted the photo to James and said "is this the friend you wanted to set me up with?" Of course she had to message Matt! And the rest is history from there. Their first date was at Sapsuckers in Huntington, where they learned that they grew up five minutes from each other in Huntington, Matt went to John Glenn High School as well as Ashley's siblings and they both grew up spending summers on Fire Island. They we're surprised they didn't meet sooner! The night ended in Matt kicking Ashley's butt in pool, which knowing them, is the perfect date.
Ashley and Matt visited Block Island for the first time in 2017 and instantly fell in love with it's charm, laid back attitude and beach culture. Little did Ashley know that their trip to Block Island during the summer of 2020 would make one of their favorite summer spots a little more magical! A few days into the trip, they rented mopeds for the day, stopped at the market for cheese, crackers and champagne, grabbed a blanket and took a trip to Cooneymus Cove for the best views of the sunset. As the sun was setting and they took their sunset selfie, Matt got down on his knee and proposed! Ashley couldn't believe it was finally happening and couldn't have been happier to celebrate the beginning of forever with Matt on this secluded part of Block Island while watching the sun set. They can't wait to celebrate with family and friends at our wedding on Block Island in June 2022!
