During a typical Wednesday Farmers Market at the Sardine Can, Chris and Maddie's paths first crossed In the Summer of 2019. Chris found himself drawn to Maddie's presence, particularly in her summery blue and white dress. He initially caught her attention by mentioning his friend had considered her the most beautiful girl in the bar – a statement that would become a playful refrain in the weeks to come. Despite his reluctance to pursue someone, Chris had introduced himself to Madison exchanging pleasantries but to no further avail. Their paths continued to cross casually, whether at the bars or a nearby lake, with Chris consistently singling out Maddie, saying things such as “the most beautiful girl at the lake is here”. Moved by Chris’s persistent admiration, Maddie felt herself drawn to him when they met again at a more relaxed bar setting, where he again reaffirmed his initial compliment. Encouraged by his friends, Chris approached Maddie, and engaged in conversation. And so, in the dimly lit corners of the Sand Box outdoor Tiki Bar, Chris and Maddie’s love story began, fueled by chance encounters, resulting in an innocent good night kiss under the summer night sky.

On February 11th, 2024, amidst the excitement of the Super Bowl showdown between the Chiefs and the 49ers, Chris orchestrated a special surprise for Maddie. Gathering their friends for a casual cookout at their shop, he kept Maddie in the dark about the impending proposal. As Maddie arrived with her friends, Chris slyly lured her towards the dock with a tale of a cat in need of rescue. Seizing the moment, Chris dropped to one knee and asked Maddie to marry him, catching her completely off guard. Overwhelmed with joy, they shared a tender embrace as Chris revealed that more friends and family were waiting nearby.
