Where it all began: It was March 2023 and while the world was defrosting from a chilly winter, so were our dating apps. In attempt to show off his musical talents, Mike had a voice note of himself singing Brown-Eyed Girl by Van Morrison. Hannah's opening line: "So what if I have blue eyes?" The conversation took off from there. Mike boasted about the number of instruments he can play, and Hannah teased, "What can't you do?!" to which Mike replied, "I can't fly." Ready to make moves off the app, Hannah messaged back, "Well you CAN get my number 😜" and with that line, things were off to the races. Where we went: Our first date was at La Cava, a small wine bar on 2nd Ave in Midtown East. We enjoyed a bottle (or two) while getting to know each other. Immediately, there was a spark and we quickly planned to see each other soon after our first date. BUT THEN... The afternoon before their second date, Mike called Hannah out of the blue. Hannah, who held a strict no phone call policy for unsaved numbers, let it go to voicemail. A text from Mike followed that read, "Hey I have bad news..." Immediately panicked, Hannah rushed to call him back to make sure everything was ok. Mike picked up on the first ring and started a very casual conversation. Eventually, he got to the "bad" news - he would have to reschedule their second date because he forgot it was Greek Easter!! (This was the first time Hannah had ever heard about Greek Easter...) Fast forward 3 Greek Easters, 2 handwritten love songs, and one proposal later, Mike and Hannah are now ready to start their forever together. Just to think, it was all because a swipe ☺️
