Travel Note
Rome Fiumicino Airport (FCO) and Naples International Airport (NAP) provide the best options for getting to Amalfi. Whereas Naples is closer to the end destination, most will find that Rome is more convenient due to more direct and cheaper flights. Consider both options and choose what's best for you; we've done both ways! When choosing the airport, keep in mind how you plan to get down to Amalfi - options are detailed below.
Travel Note
As with most places in Europe, trains are a great option to get around the country in Italy. If you fly into Rome, we suggest taking a train to Naples to get closer to Amalfi. However, buses are widely available to get to Naples or all the way to Amalfi. If you want to take a train from Naples to the Amalfi Coast, you can take Trenitalia's regional trains that stop at Vietri sul Mare, the only city on the Amalfi Coast with a train station. Additionally, you can take a train from Naples to Salerno, which is closer to the end destination. From Vietri sul Mare or Salerno, a taxi or coach can get you to your final destination. If you are looking for the most convenient experience, we are able to arrange private transfer services from Rome Airport, Naples Airport, or Naples Train station through our wedding coordinator. If interested, please contact Jenna or Jared or email OttandPicawedding@gmail.com. Renting a car is also an option for experienced drivers. If you plan to rent a car, make sure you get an international license (available through AAA or other services) and are able to drive a manual transmission, which may be required. Parking in Amalfi is available at some hotels/rentals, but make sure your accommodation has it or it may be difficult to find. Overall, we do not recommend renting a car unless you are comfortable with international driving. Once you get to Amalfi, public transportation, taxis, or walking are preferred due to high traffic at certain times.
Travel Note
There are a large number of hotels and AirBnB or VRBO listings in the area. We highly recommend staying close to the venue - Hotel Santa Caterina - whether you are the town itself or the surrounding area. Be aware that Amalfi Coast is a broad region with multiple cities/towns and Amalfi is a specific town within this region. See below for more! Please reach out to Jared or Jenna if you have specific questions on location!
