We met online and decided to have our first date on Halloween, in costume. Mike dressed as Captain 'Murica and Sarah dressed as Harry Potter. We had sushi at Sono, walked around the city for 3 hours, and ended up having a drink at the Rye Bar and meeting a wonderful bartender who impressed us with his Tina Turner impersonation from a Halloween party two nights before. We quickly realized that we were soulmates, from our intense dislike of horseradish, ability to predict whatever weird reference the other is going to make, and the way we can make each other laugh until we cry. After months of telling Sarah that the "wheels are in motion" regarding a proposal, Mike got down on one knee in the exact spot we first met in front of Sono, with a beautiful opal ring. We couldn't be happier!
We wanted a wedding hashtag that would be distinctive enough to find when searching on social media and would also refer to our interests. Expecto Patronum is a charm in Harry Potter, that, according to J.K. Rowling, is "a pure, protective magical concentration of happiness and hope." We couldn't imagine anything that would fit better with our relationship than that thought, so #ExpectoPiazza was inevitable.
