Oh wow… We met so long ago. Over a decade ago! It was Spring of 2010. I remember it was my sophomore year of high school. My good friend at the time invited me to our church youth group trip to Ohio. I knew mostly everyone.. Except for Gabe at the time. At that time we met he was just an 8th grader. Honestly I don’t remember much of that trip other than connecting with God and dinner at the Golden Corral. All I know is that even though I didn’t know this kid at the time, we instantly connected and we became good friends after that trip.
The story of Gheobe started my junior year of high school, 2010-2011. I remember how excited I was that he came to the same high school as me. We started dating around that fall of 2010, but at that time our relationship was pretty short. We broke up and went our separate ways. It wasn’t until summer of 2015, when we started talking again, through a mutual friend. I remember I was on snapchat watching my friend’s (Frank-thank you!) snapchat story and saw that Gabe was on there. Truth be told, I watched that video about 5 times laughing to myself. Shortly after, I decided to text Frank, and had him invite Gabe to hang out with us later that week. That day we hung out, I remember that I was excited to see him, we talked and talked, then finally added each other on Snapchat. Gabe was my kryptonite that summer, I couldn’t stop thinking about him and invited him to my birthday dinner with friends at Downtown Disney and a trip to Napa Valley to visit our friend Frank. That trip changed my life. We went on a couple dates afterward and then on December 9th 2015 he asked me to be his girlfriend. We have been together for 5 years. They were tough years, but I know that the challenges we have faced brought us closer and with all my heart, I truly believe that God made us for each other.
Wow, where do I even begin. Well, to start off it was Christmas day 2020 and I had a feeling that he was going to propose (lol). I didn’t know how or when but it was the most nervous Christmas day that I have ever had. Anyways, we celebrated with his family in the morning, like we do every year since we’ve been dating, then later that evening, we went to my uncle’s to spend it with my family. As normal, we greeted the fam and my mom was taking pictures in front of the Christmas tree. After that we prayed and had dinner. I did not eat that night because I was so nervous (pretty sure Gabe ate less than I did lol). Time passed that night and Gabe disappeared and I asked my cousin if she saw where he went. Next thing you know Gabe’s parents were there and my uncle wanted to play a game, where I was the ONLY player. My stomach was filled with enormous butterflies. Short story, my uncle asked my cousin questions about me and then flipped it around asking if anyone had any questions for me. Gabe came out from around the corner and I bursted into tears. He sang our song “By Chance” by JRA. He got down on one knee and told me he couldn’t imagine his life without me. I cried out my “yes”. I couldn’t imagine a better proposal. He did such an amazing job planning with my family. Definitely the best Christmas gift a girl can ever ask for! God has truly blessed me.
