For those who may not know the whole story of how we met, here it goes! Most know we met at SUNY Albany our Sophomore year, but did you know Jayme doesn’t remember the first time she saw Nick? It’s true. Probably because Jayme was feeling a bit frustrated as it was during finals week. Turns out, Jayme and Nick have two different ideas on what constitutes as studying. For Jayme it was actually reading notes and going over material in a quiet setting. For Nick is was to sit with friends and make as much noise as possible without ever opening a notebook. Is anyone surprised here? While trying to study in her dorm room, Jayme continued to hear banging coming from the lounge area on the floor above. Getting tired of the noise, Jayme (along with one of her suitemates) went upstairs to find a group of rambunctious boys banging their chairs on the floor. Jayme and her suitemate politely (okay, demanded) the boys stop making so much noise as they were trying to study. The semester ended (Jayme passed all her finals in case anyone was wondering) and Winter break came and went. At the start of Spring semester, Jayme and her suitemates ran into some boys at the basement vending machines. The boys invited the girls to their suite for a party that weekend and the girls happily accepted. It was at that party where Jayme and Nick had their first real conversation. The rest was history. Jayme and Nick continued to spend time together over the next several weeks. After about two months Jayme was getting antsy on where her and Nick stood (she had a huge crush on him) so she did what anyone would do; she flat out asked Nick if she was his girlfriend! Clearly Nick said yes (possibly because he felt pressured, but hey it all worked out!) and we have been together ever since!
After 6.5 years and both families asking when we would be getting engaged at every family gathering, Nick finally did the damn thing! On October 20, 2019, Nick and Jayme along with Jayme’s siblings, niece and nephew, headed out to Stakey’s Pumpkin Patch for their annual pumpkin picking adventure. The day was completely normal, well aside from a couple strange instances (Nick perseverating on wanting beer and then using the bathroom several times and Shayna not letting Jayme put something in the diaper bag), and everyone was having a great time. When Nathan yelled “I found the perfect pumpkin!” Jayme looked up and saw him carrying a pumpkin with what looked like black schmutz on it. As he got closer Jayme saw that the schmutz was actually writing that said “Will You Marry Me?” and everything started to click together. Jayme turned around and saw Nick on one knee and was in such disbelief she could not stop laughing. After sweet words were exchanged and many pictures were taken, we headed to a nearby winery that we typically go to. Nick wouldn’t let Jayme call her best friend on the way over (rude), which got Jayme thinking about what other surprises were up his sleeve. At the winery, Nick had our parents, his siblings and you guessed it, Jayme’s best friend there to celebrate with us. Nick truly thought of everything (including calling Jayme’s principal to let him know she would not be able to go to work the next day) and made the day so special. It was by far the best day of our lives.
Thank you so much for saving our date. Unfortunately, due to the ongoing COVID-19 Pandemic, we have made the difficult decision to decrease the size of our wedding to immediate family and our wedding party. We hope you understand that this is a drastic measure we never expected to have to make. We love every single person we invited to our wedding, and this is heartbreaking for us. While this is not how we envisioned entering married life, we are doing so with an even greater appreciation of life and love. With love, Nick and Jayme
