Why Ireland?

Timothy’s Bracken family comes from Killbeggan, County Westmeath, about an hour from our wedding destination. His aunt was married at the Convent of Westmeath, where the church still holds a chalice gifted by the original Bracken clan over 125 years ago. If time and weather allow, we hope to visit the convent during our stay.
The Bracken surname comes from the Gaelic Ó Breacáin, meaning “descendant of Breacán,” a name tied to a 10th century chieftain and Saint Bricin. The Bracken clans, long associated with Leinster, were known for their strength, with a family crest featuring symbols of their heritage, often represented by a shield.
We are so glad to be honoring this connection to Ireland and the Bracken family legacy.
