They met through friends. Morgan loved Phil's blue eyes, he thought she was kind of cute. They connected over an English Ivy that was a parting gift from a banquet they both attended, but not together. Morgan had the clipping of the plant and Phil wanted a clipping himself, so one day, Morgan asked him for his phone number, thinking she would send him photos of the plant until it was big enough to share. This was a clever ploy to get his number...and it worked! He asked her out to dinner and they've been together ever since. And the plant is bigger than ever!
When Morgan got diagnosed with cancer, desperate measures ensued. It was in the middle of Covid, Chemo and Radiation were eminent and surgery was coming in April. One idea was that if Morgan and Phil got married, he could accommodate her to treatments and visit her in the hospital post surgery. And, God forbid, make decisions for her if need be. Phil bought a ring and proposed and took amazing care of Morgan during her treatments. But, they never got around to getting married, because after the cancer and surgery, Morgan's step-dad began to decline and eventually he passed away in 2022. In early 2023, Phil got diagnosed with a Triple A (Abdominal Aortic Aneurism) that required emergency surgery and again, wedding plans were put on hold. Morgan saw a promotion for a "Gift of a Lifetime" for a cancer patient who also happened to be engaged and she entered her name with Phil's.... AND THEY WON! So Phil proposed again, just to make sure it was clear that this was the real deal.... and the wedding planning begins! But they never forget that the real Gift of a Lifetime is the rest of their lives, shared together, forever. The Ritz Carlton Key Biscayne and the Baptist family of hospitals have been amazing and are responsible for this extravagant event. Morgan and Phil are so grateful and excited!
