How We Met

First comes lacrosse, then comes marriage

Adam and Chelsea both grew up on Niantic River Rd in Waterford, CT and attended Southwest Elementary School. Chelsea's mom would pick her up from school and Adam's dad would pick him up from school. Their parents would chat while they were waiting and became friendly, but Adam and Chelsea never knew each other. While Chelsea was living on Niantic River Rd at her grandfather's house, her grandfather, "Poppy" would visit "the little old lady" for breakfast on Sundays. Chelsea and Adam later found out during Adam's grandmother "Nonnon's" funeral that the "little old lady" was actually Adam's grandmother. Fast forward to high school, Adam attended Waterford, while Chelsea attended St. Bernard's. Adam and Chelsea both excelled in lacrosse and went on to play lacrosse in college. They still never met each other. After attending Emerson College, Chelsea returned to CT and moved into an apartment in Mystic. Lacrosse, coaching, and giving back were some of Chelsea's passions, so she started a youth lacrosse program in her home city, New London. After attending numerous board meetings, one of the biggest requests was to add a boys program. Chelsea remembered reading about Adam Grillo in the paper during high school and college and he was known as one of the best boys lacrosse players in the area. So she reached out to him to see if he'd be interested in running the boy's program. Of course he said yes and they immediately became best friends spending almost every day together. Not much has changed since. Today, Chelsea and Adam reside in Old Saybrook, CT with their two dogs, Charlie and Duncan. They still give back to the New London youth lacrosse program, which has evolved into a varsity girl's high school program. Adam and Chelsea are best friends who do absolutely everything together from golfing, kickboxing and yoga, to fantasy football and watching Boston sports. They laugh and have the best time no matter what they do.
