Jon and Sarah first met in 2015, shortly after Sarah moved to Atlanta. They matched on a dating app and agreed to meet for the first time in Little Five Points for pizza. Several years after losing touch, Jon and Sarah reconnected in early-2020 for their "second first date" at Bookhouse Pub. While drinking beer and catching up on the last 5 years, Jon interjected mid-sentence, "STOP. I think we should date." And the rest is history.

Jon and Sarah went on their long-awaited Europe trip in the winter of 2022, where they visited Italy, Austria, Germany, and Switzerland. Some highlights from the trip included a gondola ride through the Venice canals, wine tasting at a family-owned winery in the Italian countryside (and, of course, having a case of Prosecco shipped home), and visiting the Alpine town Christmas markets. No moment was as incredible, though, as when Jon proposed to Sarah at the top of the Hohensalzburg Fortress, the medieval fortress overlooking the city of Salzburg, Austria. Despite Jon's intention to be spontaneous when he popped the question, the proposal was caught on video by another couple also visiting the fortress. Jon and Sarah celebrated their engagement by buying a watercolor painting of the fortress from a local artist and having an authentic Austrian dinner with their tour group, where their German guide dubbed them the "Mascots of Love" and toasted to a long and happy marriage.
