We first met at a branding about three years ago. I (Alexis) instantly noticed the cute, blue-eyed, boy as we wrestled calves to the ground. I soon found out that the cute boy was Joe Kriz. However, God had His own plan for us. Joe was lead to start ranching on his own, and I was lead to go to seminary in Laramie.
Turns out, we both are a little stubborn (who knew). It actually took some convincing of a friend, who knew I had a crush on Joe, to insist him that I would say yes to a date. After what started out as an awkward dinner, it didn’t take long for us to be comfortable around each other. As he drove me home that night, he asked if it would be okay to ask me on a second date. My response was, "OH HECK YES!!" From that moment on, our love story began. And what an amazing, beautiful, adventure it has been.
Joe proposed on January 24th. It was a Sunday morning, and after we went to church, we went out for dinner. He tells me now, that he was very nervous, but I had no clue. It was a freezing cold day, but he kept insisting that we should go for a "walk". We ended up going out to Fort Robinson, and although it was freezing, it was a beautiful day (but I may be biased). We ended up by the ponds at a gazebo, and it was there where he got down on one knee. There were lots of tears, but mainly a lot of joy. We both agree that God has been very kind to us, and we cannot wait to go through this life together.
