Savanna was a member of Japanese Club in High School. One day during her freshman year, Phil walked in wearing head-to-toe Eagles football apparel. He stuck out so bad, which is what got her attention. After chatting with him a bit she gained a new crush. They did not start dating until January of her sophomore year, Phil's senior year. We have been together for 16 years!

I (Savanna) was SO excited. Phil was coming home to visit after being in Korea with the US Army for one year. I spent weeks picking out my outfit and practiced doing my hair so it would be cute. We hadn't physically seen each other in a year. I was incredibly nervous. I went to the airport with Phil's mom and step dad where we met up with Phil's dad, Pat. We had arrived early and were supposed to meet Phil at baggage claim, but his step dad talked with an employee and told me that he said he was diabetic and needed food, so they let us go up to the gate. Looking back now, he probably told them what was about to happen. We went up to the gates and I could not sit still. I was pacing, looking out the windows, and pacing some more. Every time I would sit I would get back up in three minutes or less. An employee saw me and asked what flight we were waiting for and I told her. She smiled and pointed out the window and said "That one there, it is about to land." I watched it land and pull up to the gate. I went and sat down, I didn't want to be rude to Ann (Phil's mom), I knew she was looking forward to seeing him too. She told me I could hug him first and I double checked, afraid to cause some kind of offense. She reassured me and I stood up. The door opened, and here they came. Unbeknownst to me, Pat was recording everything that happened from here. Phil was about the 10-15th person. He walked quickly towards me and me to him. I threw my arms around him and didn't want to let go. He kissed me, smiling. I backed up and let Ann hug him. When she backed away, Phil was holding something in his hand. He turned to me and dropped to one knee. I FROZE. As he started talking, people coming off the plane and nearby started forming a circle around us. Because of the noise and my heart racing, I honestly don't remember a lot of what he said haha. He knows this, by the way. But he popped open the box and there was a beautiful ring. Tears started running down my face and he asked if I would marry him. I said yes and what seemed like the whole airport started clapping and cheering. He slid the ring on my finger then stood up and kissed me.
