Growing up in the same church, Christin and Phillip knew each other in passing for years. Every so often, Phillip invited Christin to come out and support the church’s football team at their practices and matches. She never quite made it, but the thought stayed with her. Years later, they both became members of the Sports, Health & Wellness Ministry team. When the church hosted its first 5K run, they were assigned to lead the warm-up and cool-down duties together. That was when conversations that had once been occasional started to grow into something more regular. Christin had always noticed Phillip — cute dimply smiles and all — but wondered if the way he looked at her was simply how he looked at everyone. Phillip, on the other hand, remembers seeing Christin as nice and cute. As he sought the Lord in prayer, he found himself asking God what it meant that she kept coming to his mind. Though Christin didn’t always reply to his messages right away at first (something Phillip admits was frustrating!), he continued to pray and seek clarity. On the day of the 5K, along with their prep duties, they were once again paired on ministry tasks, with each interaction leaving an imprint. After the 5K, they spoke for a few days, but the conversations faded until just over a month later when Christin reached back out. From that point on, the conversations never stopped. What started with ministry responsibilities and small moments grew into a relationship that both believe was guided by God’s timing. Now, Christin and Phillip are excited to celebrate the journey that began in their church community and continues into forever- surrounded by the people they love most! Poem by Phillip We were once familiar strangers, just hi and hello! But now we're a tandem like ice cream and jello! From no replies to until we die, a love that flies beyond the skies. From that depths of depression I sought His grace, and in a vision I saw your face. And from then on great things took place, So to the Lord I give all praise! A love that shines more than a star, though not too long, we've come real far! New lives ahead might cause some doubt, from our love God's light shines out! He that find a wife, finds a good thing. And just the thought of you makes my heart sing! Love is patient, love is kind, God is great, he made you mine!
