Our Story

Phillip and Brittany first met on a summer's day in 2016. Phillip, a 2017 graduate from Okkodo High School, and Brittany, a 2018 graduate from the Academy of Our Lady of Guam, found an unexpected friendship fueled by mutual love of poetry, anime, and appreciation of old school music. They would speak to each other once in a blue moon (at least 5 times a year), but every brief conversation was filled with joy, laughter, and lots of debates (they're both very stubborn and they both always thought they were right). A few years later in 2019, Brittany joined the United States Air Force and left Guam to begin her military career in the mainland. Shortly after, Phillip went on active duty in the United States Army and received orders to Fort Carson, Colorado. They ventured on their individual journeys of self-discovery not knowing where their life changing decision was leading them. All they knew at that time was to trust in God, rely on family and friends for support, and always be available because once in a blue moon one of them would end up messaging the other. While Brittany was deployed to the Middle East in 2021, she received her next set of orders to the United States Air Force Academy, Colorado; a short 45-minute drive from Fort Carson where Phillip was stationed. She reached out to Phillip, letting him know a familiar face will soon be in the area, and on the morning of August 27, 2021, Phillip and Brittany's dormant friendship ignited again. This time they spoke to each other nearly every day- if you can think of a random topic to talk about, chances are 95% that Phillip and Brittany already spoke to each other about it. The two were inseparable! Then on January 4, 2023, Phillip asked Brittany to officially be his girlfriend. The two both knew that this relationship would be their last in this lifetime, and with the high demands of the military and uncertainty of the future, Phillip and Brittany decided to elope. After only three weeks of dating, the two went straight to the Colorado Springs DMV on a random Tuesday evening after work and signed their civil marriage certificate; they celebrated by eating a McDonald's dinner in a Wendy's parking lot. These young and crazy kids knew that eloping wasn't the official and final step. As devout Catholics they understood this unification wasn't properly complete; Brittany even refuses to take Phillip's last name until they get married in church. Eventually they got family involved and are on track to be wed before God, family, and friends in January 2026. The couple is now stationed at Camp Humphreys, South Korea, counting down the days to celebrate their union with the people they love, care for, and who have made big or small contributions in molding the adults they are today. Join us as we celebrate a new milestone amongst milestones for this young couple. We hope to see you there!
