Cancun International Airport
Cancun is the largest airport of the region. From there, you can either take a short flight to Cozumel or take a ferry from Playa Del Carmen (35 min ferry ride). To get to Playa Del Carmen, you can take the bus (ADO bus), a shuttle or a taxi.

United Airlines, American Airlines, Delta, Interjet, Volaris fly into Cozumel airport directly from Dallas, Houston, Atlanta, Cancun,México city, Guadalajara, Monterrey... Cozumel airport is a 10 minute drive to Hotel Playa Azul.

Ferry Playa Del Carmen to Cozumel
An easy and cheaper way to get to Cozumel is to take the ferry from Playa Del Carmen tp Cozumel. Two companies, Winjet and Ultramar, operate ferries departing every hour from Playa Del Carmen. The ferry ride takes about 35 minutes. You can take the ferry with a car. Hotel Playa Azul is a 10 minute drive from the ferry Terminal in Cozumel. There is a taxi station on the left when you exit the pier. Taxis to the hotel are 95 pesos. FYI, there are no ferry going to Cozumel from Cancun.

Getting from Cancun Airport to Playa Del Carmen
- ADO Bus: costs about 160 pesos per person and runs every 30 minutes or less between 8.30am and 11.50pm. The bus drive takes about 1h15min. The bus station right next to the ferry terminal in Playa Del Carmen. - Taxi: we paid $50 last time. Just make sure to negotiate the rate before accepting any ride. - Shuttle companies that can take you to Playa Del Carmen.

Getting around Cozumel
There are many taxis on the island. Official rates are written at the taxi station near the pier and, from our experience, taxis follow the rule. You can also rent a car or a vespa to go around the island. Cars are allowed on the ferry to Cozumel.
