Go hiking at Hendy Woods State Park. It contains two groves of towering redwoods, some of which are more than 300 feet tall and 1,000 years old. Five miles of trails, including Big Hendy Grove’s wheelchair-accessible Discovery Trail, lead through the fern-filled forest. There is also a swimming hole under the bridge near the entrance to the park.
We sourced some of our wedding wine from here!
California Route 128 goes through this beautiful state park on both sides of the road with a few narrow pullouts on both sides and meandering trails through the redwoods. It is a bit of a maze but if you're willing to wander you might find your own private swimming hole on the river. The drive finishes with views of the Pacific Ocean at Navarro Point and a classic (cold) NorCal beach.
