How We Met

Our Love Story

We met online. OkCupid. Michelle had wanted her rom-com style "meet-cute," and was very resistant to the apps. Philip was similarly skeptical. We both finally gave in to trying the dating apps after MANY friends suggesting to us "what could it hurt." The answer, apparently, was "nothing," other than some very awkward dates that now are nothing but funny anecdotes. We had to get creative trying to date through a pandemic and while living in different cities. But the more time we spent together, the more we wanted to spend time together. You definitely know someone likes you if you have to replan your date around COVID-19 restrictions for the 6th time. Days turned into weeks turned into months. And the rest is history. We are beyond blessed to have found each other and get to celebrate our love and the beginning our life together with our family and friends.

The Proposal

Lights, Camera, Proposal?

Michelle knew it was coming. We had discussed getting engaged and looked at rings. We were both sure about wanting to be life-long partners. It seems God had designed us for one another. We even started a premarital book. The question was WHEN and HOW. In the weeks leading up to it, Philip did just about everything he could to throw Michelle off. She knew it could happen at any time. Each date to a nice dinner or family event she would look "cute" just in case (exhausting, btw). Finally, we had a date planned for Christmas at the Zoo, a repeat of a favorite date from early into our dating experience. This time we were double dating with Philip's sister, Courtney, brother-in-law, Geoff, and their son Trenton. We had the professional camera with us for pictures of Trenton with Santa. We went through the whole evening and entire zoo and Michelle's suspicions had completely dropped. Finally, at the end of the night on our way toward the exit, we decided to stop and take some pictures under the tunnel of lights. Under the magical twinkling lights in the crisp winter air, Philip got down on one knee and asked Michelle to marry him. She said "Absolutely."
