It all started with an office crush. Philip and Megan met while working at Square. They were shy at first. Whenever Megan walked past Philip in the office she immediately reached for her phone to avert her eyes and to not embarrass herself for staring at the “Cool, hot, leather jacket man with the floppy hair”. Philip attempted to smile and say hello on many occasions, but Megan was looking at her phone, so he just admired her from afar instead, like a respectable male coworker not trying to creep out his female peer #gentleman. What was to come next was unforeseen by all, but debatably one of the best things to happen to shy Philip and Megan. It took a Global Pandemic to bring these two together. In an attempt to keep morale high and employees chatting with each other, Square began the daily Slack thread “Question of the Day”. It was the only thing keeping Megan and Philip (sort of) sane while working from their shoebox SF apartments. They now had purpose to their pandemic lives…flirt with another employee on public company slack channels for all to see. As they got to know each other through these conversation threads, Megan knew it was time to take it to the next level. After watching a stellar presentation given by Philip, she knew what she had to do. She took the conversation off of the public company channel. She casually "slid into his DMs (Direct Messages)" with a gif of Joey and Chandler from ‘Friends’ clapping enthusiastically and that's what started their journey. But there was a catch! Megan had already left SF to live with her parents in Southern California, but Philip didn’t care and the slack convos continued while Megan's mother told her to “be realistic and try a dating app to look for local love prospects”. Megan refused her mother's wishes because she knew this was something special. After a few virtual dates, they decided it was time they put their long distance love to the test. Like crazy people (as told by our friends and family), Megan flew up to SF to meet Philip in person. A 3 day trip was quickly extended to a 10 day trip. Now here we are, getting married.
