We're Getting Married!

Brette + Phil met on a back porch in Hamden, CT. Chelsey - Brette's roommate at the time and close friend - had been insisting for several weeks that Brette meet Phil, a coworker of Bill, her now-husband. As it turned out, Chelsey hadn't even met Phil until just a few days prior to August 3. Brette was in Boston that weekend with her parents at a car show, and returned to her house in Branford, CT Saturday evening to find out that Bill was having some friends over, Chelsey was going and Phil was going to be there. Tired of wondering whether this Phil guy was anything special, Brette dragged Amber along to Hamden for just one drink to meet Phil. While nothing monumental transpired that evening, Chelsey was quick to arrange a double-date for the following week. Brette, Phil, Chelsey and Bill headed to Eli's on Whitney for their double-date and then back to Bill's to watch Shark Week. When it was time for Phil to go, he got up, gave Brette a high-five and was on his way. A few days later, numbers were exchanged, Phil asked Brette on their first real date, and the rest is history!

Brette + Phil were engaged on May 5, 2017 at Sevier Park in Nashville TN. Brette had just wrapped up her Masters Degree at Vanderbilt and was set to graduate the following Friday, May 12. They were then departing May 13 for a three-week trip to Europe! Phil told Brette for weeks leading up to the engagement that they were going away that weekend, and that it was a surprise. The plan was to have dinner in Nashville Friday before departing for their weekend away on Saturday morning. On the evening of May 5, Phil picked Brette up for dinner after running late due to traffic heading home from work. They drove over to the 12 South neighborhood in Nashville but, according to Phil, had to park a bit down the street from the restaurant. After parking and walking through Sevier Park a few minutes, Phil took his opportunity when no one else was in sight, got down on one knee, and popped the question! Brette, of course, said yes! The newly engaged couple then went onto dinner at Josephine's - a favorite restaurant - only to find Brette's best friends, Katie and Sean, sitting at the bar awaiting their arrival! Phil hadn't hit traffic at all, but was picking up Katie and Sean from the airport to surprise Brette with a fun weekend in Nashville to celebrate with good friends. It was perfect!
