I had been working night shift at a rehab facility, so of course I never saw anyone from day shift. Eventually, I switched to the day shift, and I would always notice this tall, handsome guy from the therapy department walking patients up and down the halls. He was so handsome to me, but he was not friendly at all (side eye)! He would never make eye contact with me, and I would have to speak first to get a response. Of course with him working around so many females, we all would talk about him in some kind of way. Occasionally my co workers and I would go out for drinks and at times his name would come up. Funny thing is I would always be like "He's a jerk! He walks right past you and won't speak!", and was so serious, but it still didn't change the fact that I thought he was fine lol! I actually was really having some hip pain, so I would occasionally jokingly (but seriously) ask him "Can you show me some exercises to help with my hip pain?" He would casually laugh or say ok, but nothing more. I eventually just figured he wasn't interested in talking to me. Then one lucky day (I remember like it was yesterday), I was working on the hall where he primarily worked. He was standing by my cart and asked "So how is your back?" I couldn't believe he was making conversation lol! I replied "The same" (although it was my hip). He then asked, "Well when are you gonna let me help you with it?" I smiled and replied sarcastically, "I'm waiting on you!" He laughed and walked away. He passed me a few more times before he placed a small piece of paper on my cart and said "Well use this". It was his phone number! I was so excited I would've started doing back flips down the hall if I could lol! So of course I texted him when I got home, afterwards he called me, we went on our first date a couple days later, and the rest is what led us right to where we are today! He is truly a blessing to me, and despite what I originally thought about him, he's my sweetheart!
I moved to Houston, TX in 2012 from Memphis, TN. I liked Houston so much I decided to buy a house and make Houston my permanent residence. I bought the house and then found employment closer to my house. Who knew this is where I would find my beautiful wife to be. I start my new job and immediately I spot this beautiful, always smiling, always cordial and friendly nurse. I thought to myself she's too pretty to be single so I would walk by and speak but never took it any further. One day she stopped me in the hall and said she was having hip and knee pain and asked if I knew of any exercises and stretches that she could do to relieve the pain. I started laughing and said "girl you're not having any pain" but I did give her some suggestions on some things she could do. A few weeks went by and I stopped her in the hall and asked her if she was still having pain and also gave her my number and told her to call me if she was ever free. She called me, we went out for dinner, and the rest is history . She's truly my blessing from GOD.
So this day started off (so I thought) as being the day of our housewarming party. I didn't realize that some of our family knew that it was also a surprise engagement party as well. We had family and friends here from out of town, as well as some of our local friends here to celebrate with us. We were all hanging out, dancing, listening to music, and having a great time. A couple of hours into the party and Philip grabbed me and pulled me to the dance floor. The DJ was playing 'Versace on the floor' by Bruno Mars. We danced until the song went off and then Philip told the DJ to stop the music. I was confused because I was waiting on the next song so I could continue dancing lol. Philip says "Hey baby! I love you!", and then I see him drop to his knee. No exaggeration, I literally went blank! I started shaking! I could not believe that he was proposing! Thank God for the videos cause I didn't really remember a lot of what happened from that point, but obviously I said yes cause here we are wedding planning lol! :)
