We both decided to take a chance and downloaded a dating app. After a couple text messages and attempts to coordinate a date, we landed our first date on November 5, 2021 . We met up one evening at Blue Pit BBQ in Hampden. We talked and laughed over good food and drinks and we both loved the fact that Blue Pit names their cocktails after dogs up for adoption. We shared a favorite past time of "people watching" so we decided to extend our date to make a brief stop at Waltz Inn, a dive karaoke bar in Canton. We stayed maybe about 5 minutes and realized it wasn't a first date scene and headed back to Phil's to sit on the rooftop deck and talk. We both knew there would be another date in the near future. Over the next couple of years we made travel and spending time with friends and family a priority. We have enjoyed checking out new breweries, trying new cuisines, hiking, exploring new vacation spots and classic beach trips, and cheering on the Ravens and Orioles among other things. We have been lucky enough to experience so many beautiful places and have made so many memories along the way. On April 20,2024 after I had an unexpectedly tough pre-birthday week, Phil planned a weekend getaway in Washington DC. We started the afternoon with a few competitive rounds of mini-golf at the Puttery where Phil actually won most of the games. He was insistent that we walk on the National Mall, but I knew we were a little short on time. Phil drove like a true DC driver, making u-turns and whipping around different short streets to finally get us to a spot near the National Mall. We then walked over to the Constitution Gardens. While walking near Carp Pond I noticed a man having a full on photo shoot of the ducks and joked about it with Phil. I saw a nice view of the National Monument and proceeded to take a picture while Phil knelt down on one knee. When I turned around Phil popped the question and I said yes! It was all captured by his friend and coworker Robbie who was staging as the duck photographer. After realizing the time, Phil again had to maneuver the streets of DC to get us to our hotel and dinner reservation. We narrowly made it, but it was all worth it! The dinner was fabulous at La Vie and the hotel, The Intercontinental, was lovely on the Wharf. We had a blast that night! Our story has just started and we are excited for all that is ahead of us. We look forward to celebrating with you all soon!
