Navy Pier
This is a great place even in the winter. There is a children's museum, live music, art displays, shopping a theatre and ice skating.
Museum of Science and Industry, Chicago
From the hotel, The Museum of Science and Industry is a taxi or uber ride north on Lake Shore/DeSable Drive.
Shedd Aquarium
In the museum campus, the Shedd is a really fabulous aquarium. It is about 10 min. uber drive from the hotel.
Field Museum
The Field Museum's most prized artifact is Sue the t-rex.
The Art Institute of Chicago
The Art Institute has one of the largest Impressionist collections outside of Paris, France. It is probably more famous for the George Seurat painting Sunday Afternoon on the Island of La Grande Jatte seen in the movie Farris Bueller's Day Off. With its great collection of Monet's Haystacks and American Artist Grant Wood's American Gothic, this is a world class art museum with too much to view in a couple of hours. And this is Sarah's Mom's favorite place!
Skating Ribbon
What a fun skating experience! This is skating area is the legacy of Maggie Daley wife of former mayor of Chicago. It's basically a skating hike around the park, but with fun and interesting things to see as you skate.
The Hancock
This observation area is above Water Tower shopping. There is an observation deck as well as a fun bar to have a drink, cuddle with your honey and view the city lights from above.
Magnificent Mile
There is no other shopping and dining experience than on the Mag Mile. Bloomingdale's, Nordstroms, Macy's and Sak's anchor this iconic shopping area. The area is making a comeback after the cities shutdown last year. And, you have to go visit the 3 level Starbucks for that REALLY good cup of freshly roasted and brewed coffee!
