FAQs

We want to make sure you're prepared and comfortable during this very exciting weekend, so if you have questions that have not been addressed below please feel free to reach out to us directly!
Question

Are children welcome?

Answer

While we love all of the children in our lives, our venue cannot accommodate kids. We have therefore decided to keep our wedding adults-only. We hope you're able to join us for a relaxing weekend away with friends and family!

Question

Where are guests expected to stay for the weekend?

Answer

There are limited accommodations onsite for our family and wedding party; all other guests should visit our "Travel & Accommodations" tab for recommended hotels.

Question

What should I pack?

Answer

Since this is a weekend-long event, be sure to pack extra clothes outside of what's needed for the formal events for your comfort. Cedar Lakes Estate is in the Hudson Valley and trends cooler than NYC. Weather for the wedding weekend is predicted to have highs in the 50s and low temperatures (usually at night) of low 30s. We suggest packing layers you can wear throughout the day and night so that you are comfortable, along with a warmer coat/jacket for nighttime. On the day of the wedding, we encourage all guests to take advantage of outdoor activities on the property in the morning and early afternoon, so please bring comfortable shoes + any relevant racquets you may have. Please refer to the "Schedule" and "Activities" pages on our website to plan your attire for our scheduled events throughout the wedding weekend. You can find an itemized packing list below: What to Pack: Pajamas Extra Layers Casual + Athletic Clothing Sneakers Welcome Party Outfit (Cocktail Attire) Wedding Outfit (Black-tie Optional) Personal Toiletries Umbrella (Preparing for the worst) Bathing Suit (Hoping for the best) Bug Spray Water Bottle Camera (The venue is very photogenic)

Question

What's the difference between "Black-tie optional" and "Cocktail attire"?

Answer

Our wedding weekend will be a formal affair, with two events to dress up for: our Welcome Party on Friday and our Wedding on Saturday. You may have noticed that the party on Friday calls for cocktail attire, while Saturday is black-tie optional. When we say "cocktail attire," we mean a suit with a dress shirt (a tie is optional), or a knee-length or midi dress. You can even wear a fancy jumpsuit; just make it dressy and fun! A bit of sparkle is highly encouraged. Black-tie optional is more formal. We encourage you to wear a dark suit and tie, tuxedo, or floor-length gown. Nothing above the knee, please.

Question

Regarding dietary restrictions...

Answer

When you RSVP, please alert us to any dietary restrictions you may have. We will communicate them to the venue on your behalf so that you'll be provided with alternative options where necessary.
